Chess program selected as best-practice for improving student outcomes

Written by David Cordover on 13th Aug, 2009

Schools First have selected the Chess Squared Program as a best-practice example to be shown to 80 workshops around Australia.

Watch their Video or read the Blog.

With a prize pool of $5 million every year for three years, Schools First is the largest education corporate philanthropy in the history of Australia.  The awards include up to 60 local awards of $50,000 each and up to eight state awards of $100,000 each. One outstanding national award recipient will receive between $500,000 – $1 million.

Here’s hoping that the chess program can win the $500,000! Whatever they win it is sure to be the largest chess funding in Australia of all time.

Chess Kids is proud to have supported Chess Squared from its commencement 4 years ago through to today. We are thrilled that this innovative program will finally get the recognition it deserves. Hopefully it can stand as an example and model for many other schools around Australia to follow.
