Chess Kids Elite program is run by three of the most experienced coaches in Australia. And now you can interact with them every week!

International Master Robert Jamieson coached just about every top player in the country today; he has had a hand in developing more Grandmasters, International Masters and Australian Champions than we can count on both hands and feet!

Fire Eating Carl Gorka, a top level player, experienced entertainer and the hardest working coach in Australia! Carl is arguably the best liked coach and player in Australia – and with good reason! He does more coaching than anyone and still finds time to help run the Melbourne Chess Club!

Chess Guru David Cordover is the Steve Jobs of the chess community – he even has the same shoes! Always innovating, always improving and a maniac for customer service, quality products and flawless organisation. Plus bringing 15 years of coaching experience to the team!

This program will be a tailored program for each child with a careful mix of learning and high-level practical play:

Learning

• Up to 4 x 1 hour lessons per week (Monday with IM Jamieson, Tuesday and Saturday with Gorka, and Thursday with Cordover) – attend one or all of them. The expectation is that you’ll attend at least one lesson each week – the one which is aimed particularly at you. You are welcome to attend others but bear in mind they may be aimed at a higher or lower level.
• If you can’t attend live lessons they will be recorded and you can review them at your leisure over the internet. With lessons running 35 weeks per year this is 140 chess lessons before the next Australian Junior Chess Championships!
• 2-3 hour individual assessment (at your home) each term
• 2 day training camp before the Australian Junior Championships
• free attendance at the Endgame Group @ Melbourne Chess Club each Wednesday
• 3 hour group session once per month
• homework every week
• full access to Chess Kids’ private library of books, software and magazines (over 2000 titles)

Playing

• Play in all RJ Shield tournaments free
• Written game analysis of all games from approved Open (adult) weekenders
• Supervision and coaching at all approved Open (adult) weekenders
• One adult club membership paid for you (pick from the list of clubs at www.chessclub.com.au)

Optional extra

• Full camp package! Supervision, accommodation, food, coaching and game analysis at 4 approved weekenders each year (eg. Ballarat, Doeberl, Vic Open and Launceston) travel included when driving, flights extra. Choose from 23 events through the year. (We do recommend that all Elite players compete in at least 4 of these adult events through the year – and probably more than that!)
