Most schools start chess coaching as part of the curriculum from Grade 3 onwards.
Recommended 1 hour per week.
Each lesson comprises 3 components:
- Chess Lesson – teaching a particular skill, idea, strategy, move or concept. The focus being on improving Thinking Skills such as Problem Solving, Memory, Critical Thinking, Analysis, Decision Making, Concentration, Visualisation, Lateral Thinking, Creative Thinking and more.
- Practical Aspect – each child learns in a different way. We make sure we cater all different learning styles. The practical aspect re-enforces the lesson.
- Tournament Games – our unique software matches players against each other each week, ensuring each child is match against someone of appropriate ability. The software also calculates a Chess Rating for each player to allow them to measure their improvement over time, and view their statistics and history on our website.
