Chess for anyone who’s interested. Can be taught from as young as 4 years old. Recommended 14-18 students per group. Schools such as Glendal, Ivanhoe East, Caulfield Grammar, Murrumbeena, McKinnon, Geelong Grammar, Wesley Collge, Fintona and many more have up to 70 children in their chess program. In these cases we provide multiple coaches and stream the groups into Advanced, Beginner, Intermediate, Girls Only or other suitable groupings.
Recommended 1 hour per week.
Each lesson comprises 3 components:
- Chess Lecture – teaching a particular skill, idea, strategy, move or concept. The focus being on improving Chess Skills such as Basic Concepts, Openings, 3 Golden Rules, Analysis, Endgames, Checkmates, Strategy, Memory, Tournament Preparation and more.
- Practical Aspect – each child learns in a different way. We make sure we cater all different learning styles. The practical aspect re-enforces the lesson.
- Tournament Games – our unique software matches players against each other each week, ensuring each child is match against someone of appropriate ability. The software also calculates a Chess Rating for each player to allow them to measure their improvement over time, and view their statistics and history on our website.
These programs often run before-school, lunchtime or after-school. Note that lunchtime programs are often fully-booked a year or more in advance.
The program can be billed as a fixed-rate to the school, with the school passing cost to the parents. This usually works out much cheaper for parents and allows to school to plan for a small surplus on the program which can then be re-invested in Educational Lessons, Equipment or Tournament Entry Fees.
Alternatively Chess Kids can collect fees directly from parents (payments can be made by credit-card online). There is a small surcharge for processing payments and as such is a little more expensive for the children.
Costs from as little as $60 per child, per term.
